Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLCs

PLC Software

  • Studio 5000
  • Connected Components Workbench
    • free version (not activated) is good entry-level
    • choose discover to upload from the PLC
    • main routine is under tasks
  • RSLogix 500
    • legacy software

Communication Software

  • FactoryTalk Linx
    • connects to most modern PLCs but not the older stuff
  • RsLinx Classic
    • legacy but needed for older PLCs or old protocols/connections
    • Choose Ethernet IP as that's the default (not Ethernet Drivers)
    • If because of firewall etc ethernet IP doesn't work use Ethernet Drivers and put in the IP address
    • unrecognized device: choose upload EDS file from device
